Wembley Return to Winning Ways!!!

Wembley Cricket Cub{WCC} welcomed Mddlesex Tamil Sports and Social Club {MTSCC} durng the 4th week of the MCCL Division 3 fixture on 1st June 2019.

WCC won the toss and elected to bat first on what looked like a very dry wicket on an equally hot day. Wembley got off to a somewhat fortuitous start with a couple of drop catches and MTSSC overseas opening bowler hurting his ankle in the 3rd over of the game to limp off the field and not take any further part during the rest of the game. WCC soon lost both the opening batters Moz Rizvi and Vrushank Dalal within the first 10 overs of the innings. In walk Vibhor Yadav and Jackson Bye, both of whom put on a 3rd wicket partnership of 167 runs and putting all the MTSCC bowlers under immense pressure by scoring over 6 an over for a period of 25 overs. Vibhor Yadav in particular was very aggressive in his stroke play and went after all the MTSCC bowlers on his way to scoring a match winning 110 off 99 balls that included 5 sixes and 14 fours. Jackson Bye, WCC Australian import, played an anchor role and carried his bat for 87 runs off 110 balls. Sneh Shah {26} and Sohil Pandya {12}, both chipped in with valuable death overs runs, helping WCC post a very solid total of 304-5 off their allocated 45 overs.

Chasing 305, MTSCC started very aggressively and opening batter Elankopan Thavalinkam took a liking to the bowling of surprisingly wayward Vibhor Yadav. Thanks to the onslaught MTSCC reached 60 off the first 5 overs. But the introduction of left arm orthodox spinner Vimal Arjan proved to be the turning point in breaking the back of the chase for MTSCC as he dismissed Elankopan thanks to an outstanding boundary catching from Sohil Pandya. Vimal Arjan ended with brilliant bowling figures of 8 overs 37 for 5. Other bowlers who shone during the bowling performance were Sohil Pandya {8-138-2} and Sayed Aziz {2.4-1-10-2}. MTSCC finished on 187-9 {1 player did not bat due to injury} off 33.4 overs giving WCC a massive 117 runs victory.

Wembley Crcket Club are joint top in the league tables and will look to continue the momentum gained in this game during the coming weeks.
